Children's House

Design Challenge: The Children’s House, a multi-location provider of day care, preschool and kindergarten, was engaged by Medpace, a mid-size clinical research organization, to open a new facility to accommodate its employees after losing access to a nearby childcare provider. MSP was chosen to perform a feasibility analysis on nearby properties to determine the best option for the new Children’s House.

Design Solution: As a result of the feasibility analysis, an adjacent property, the old St. Paul Lutheran Church Elementary School, was chosen as the location for The Children’s House. MSP provided architectural and interior design along with upgrades including HVAC, structural improvements, roof replacement, and upgraded electrical systems to transform the space into a state-of-the-art early childhood school.

Design Outcome: This adaptive reuse project brings new life to the unoccupied St. Paul Lutheran Church Elementary School benefitting the existing church and surrounding neighborhood. Locating The Children’s House next door to Medpace gives its employees a convenient high-quality childcare and early education option which helps employee retention. Opened in fall 2020, the facility is rapidly enrolling children to reach its 175 capacity.
