Mayerson JCC Interior Alteration

Mayerson Jewish Community Center

Design Challenge: Mayerson JCC needed more space for its early childhood school and fitness programs. The early childhood program had a long waitlist, and families could not enroll. This unmet demand limited the center’s mission of supporting families through high-quality education. At the same time, fitness programs continued to grow. Therefore, the challenge was to reimagine the existing building to serve more families and improve the overall experience without expanding the footprint.

Design Solution: The project team renovated 3,905 SF of the lower level for new group fitness and Pilates studios, staff offices, and a childcare area for fitness participants. The main level gained 8,750 SF of improvements, including four early childhood classrooms, two after-school rooms, a flexible program space, a board room, and updated member-services offices. This approach improved flow and created clear zones for childcare and wellness while supporting families, staff, and members.

Design Outcome: The renovation expanded the early childhood school and allowed more children to enroll. As a result, the center reduced its waitlist and strengthened its support for families seeking high-quality care and education. The new fitness studios and staff spaces met the growing demand for wellness programs without removing any existing services. Ultimately, the thoughtful reconfiguration created a more efficient and future-ready facility for the entire Mayerson community.
