Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology Piazza

Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology

Design Challenge: The outdoor plaza at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology languished as an underutilized, outdated space in dire need of rejuvenation. The Archdiocese of Cincinnati initiated a design competition to revamp this area. The goal was to create an inviting and accessible plaza.

Design Solution: MSP collaborated closely with Father Anthony of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Drawing inspiration from Italian piazzas that Father Anthony admired. This vision guided MSP in creating a plan that promotes student interaction within the central St. Mary’s Piazza. MSP’s surveying and engineering teams meticulously addressed details like optimizing drainage and pavement layout of Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology Piazza.

Design Outcome: Drawing from the stained glass window panels of nearby buildings, MSP crafted a distinctive design pattern for the piazza. Featuring a new fountain, seating areas amidst green spaces, and a prominent statue of St. Mary’s. The revitalized piazza now serves as a cherished outdoor gathering spot for students and staff alike.
