Design Challenge:

As part of its park master plan, Deerfield Township’s Kingswood Park was ready to move forward in creating new indoor and outdoor amenity spaces. They envisioned a new, welcoming entry that led to a community activity center and destination playground area. It would all connect to the existing pavilion and walking trails as well as other park amenities. MSP Design was chosen to create plans for an outdoor amenity area. We also designed graphic illustrations/renderings depicting the new space.

Design Solution:

With input from the township, MSP Design conducted a needs assessment. This determined what the new playground elements and outdoor structures would be. We carefully considered fitness and play equipment for a range of ages. Seating and shade structures were also taken into account. Multiple concepts were created and presented to the Deerfield township trustees. With input from trustees and the community, a final concept was approved, and construction plans developed.

Design Outcome:

Construction will soon begin to establish Kingswood as a signature park in Deerfield Township. A new inviting entryway will showcase outdoor and indoor amenities. Walking trails, seating areas, a pergola, and bike racks will encourage active and passive use. The playground, designed in collaboration with Landscape Structures Inc/Penchura LLC, features a unique “ninja fitness course” for older children and adults. When completed, Kingswood Park playground will be a destination playground for the community.
