Butler Tech Bioscience Center

Butler Technology and Career Development Schools

Design Challenge: Butler Tech desired a significant design statement on I-75 to establish the brand for the Butler Tech Bioscience Center. They aimed to create a cutting-edge education delivery concept for the Bioscience Center. The facility uses sustainable design principles. The 32,000 SF facility is a two-story steel frame structure with a basement. The building’s exterior features rain-screen construction with metal panels, glass curtain walls, and brick veneer. The initial configuration of this two-phased project can accommodate an additional 18,000 SF third story in the future.

Design Solution: The facility supports education delivery concepts of flipped classrooms and blended learning for health care and bioscience. It is one of the first of its kind in the country for a career learning center. Classrooms and labs are designed for flexible layouts. A two-story commons area features huddle rooms and open student collaboration spaces. This design encourages interactive and modern learning environments.

Design Outcome: The facility provides programs for State Tested Nursing, Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, Exercise Science, and Project Lead the Way. The Butler Tech Bioscience Center supports many education delivery concepts through its programming and design. The unique design helps establish the brand for Butler Tech on I-75. This strategic location and innovative design make a significant statement and contribute to the center’s goal of offering cutting-edge education in bioscience.
