Design Challenge: University Commerce Park faced the challenge of integrating key land uses through the Grand Blvd. expansion. The City of Hamilton aimed to create a direct route to nearby highways. Our design team, collaborating with city staff, developed a plan for properties made suitable by the road expansion. The goal was to boost development while respecting the area’s character.

Design Outcome: We used an interactive planning approach to gather input from multiple stakeholders. Using this input and city-provided market demands, we created a master plan that respected the area’s opportunities and limitations. Integrating the plan seamlessly into the existing fabric of the study area was crucial. The master plan offers development opportunities for mixed land uses. It focuses on maximizing development while enhancing walkability, multi-modal transportation, sustainability, and various housing options. University Commerce Park now stands as a testament to thoughtful, inclusive planning.
