{"id":3654,"date":"2022-02-22T08:27:12","date_gmt":"2022-02-22T13:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mspdesign.com\/?p=3654"},"modified":"2022-02-24T10:43:13","modified_gmt":"2022-02-24T15:43:13","slug":"meet-the-associate-brian-craig-civil-engineering-designer-and-it-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mspdesign.com\/meet-the-associate-brian-craig-civil-engineering-designer-and-it-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet the Associate: Brian Craig, Civil Engineering Designer and IT Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brian Craig is a civil engineering designer and also the IT manager and associate in MSP&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/mspdesign.com\/civil-engineering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Civil Engineering Department<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cf0a00;\"><strong>When did you come to MSP?<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nI started at MSP on January 31, 2005.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #cf0a00;\">What is your role at MSP and what are your job responsibilities?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>I\u2019m a civil engineering designer and also the IT manager.\u00a0 I manage all software licenses, purchase new hardware, manage users, handle IT related issues all while producing construction drawings for our Civil Engineering Department.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cf0a00;\"><strong>How long have you worked within this industry?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>I graduated college in 2001 and have worked within the industry since that time.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #cf0a00;\">What does being an associate mean to you?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>I feel like I\u2019m being recognized and rewarded for all that I do for the company. The path to ownership runs through the Associate program, so perhaps someday I\u2019ll be offered a chance to join the ownership team.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #cf0a00;\">What is your favorite part about your job?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>I enjoy the fact that each project is different. While most of the work is on site plans or subdivision plans, each site is unique and comes with its own set of complications.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #cf0a00;\">During your time at MSP what has been the coolest project you\u2019ve worked on so far?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>I\u2019ve had the opportunity to work on a lot of cool projects over the last 17 years. Some that stand out are the NKU College of Informatics site, Palmera Apartments in Deerfield Township, and all of the Wyler Automotive Group projects.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cf0a00;\"><strong>Tell us something most people would be surprised to learn about you?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>I officiated high school basketball for 20 years.\u00a0 Two years ago, I traded the referee whistle for the coaching whistle. This past season, I was the varsity assistant for the South Dearborn High School girls basketball team.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cf0a00;\"><strong>What is something that you enjoy doing outside of work?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>I like to travel in our motorhome and spend time with my family.\u00a0 I enjoy running and working out as well.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cf0a00;\"><strong>How has your career grown since starting at MSP?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>I started out just taking care of redlines for the project managers.\u00a0 I have slowly transitioned to doing more of the design.\u00a0 In 2009, I took over all of the IT responsibilities for MSP.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #cf0a00;\">What makes you proud to work at MSP?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>I like working with the staff from each department to create a product for our clients that they desire.
