Having survived the worst economic downturn in their lifetimes, the current owners once again started to plan for the future of the company. Richard Nichols was invited to make an initial purchase of stock and become a minority shareholder, while existing stockholders, Jose Castrejon and Randal Merrill, increased their holdings. Another transfer of ownership occurred when majority shareholder Craig Rambo retired. Today, MSP remains a small diverse company with a hands-on approach to the business it conducts. This is possible due to the fact that most people working at MSP today grew up in the field and love what they do. 148Waterfront G emWhen Cincinnati launched a historic overhaul of its riverfront in 1999, MSP stepped in as surveying consultant to the city and Hamilton County. The sprawling $2.5 billion project, called The Banks, includes sporting venues, parks, housing, parking, and commercial buildings. And, while administrations and stakeholders in the project have changed over the years, MSP has remained a constant guiding force on the project. MSP served as the primary consultant for layout of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, located at The Banks. Construction layout services were provided by MSP for Great American Ball Park, Paul Brown Stadium, and a new parking garage.
