Liberty Township Pedestrian Feasibility Study

Liberty Township

Design Challenge: Liberty Township chose MSP to do a comprehensive pedestrian connectivity review of the south east quadrant of the township. The goal was to determine how to link existing suburbs, commercial developments, schools and regional trails to each other via pedestrian connections.

Design Solution: MSP applied placemaking principles by viewing the Liberty Township community in its entirety. They designed streets using complete streets principles, enabling safe access for all users. We designed short-term solutions to improve existing infrastructure in Liberty Township. These solutions make the township more connected and safe with walking and cycling pathways. This includes additional multipurpose paths, widening sidewalks, adding shade trees, refuge islands, prominent crosswalks, and landscape buffers.

Design Outcome: The Township developed an implementation strategy to connect pedestrians to existing and future developments. The strategy identified locations and areas to maximize connectivity. Ultimately resulting in the Liberty Township Pedestrian Feasibility Study
